What to Pack for a Rainy Dog Walk

For a rainy dog walk, pack your usual fitted walking gear, cleanup supplies, clean water, and something to dry your dog afterward. Add a coat or paw covering when it suits your dog and the conditions. Choose the route and duration before choosing accessories.

Your packing checklist

Adapt this list to your dog and conditions. Checkmarks stay on this page only.

Plan a route you can shorten

Check current conditions and choose somewhere you can turn back easily. Rain can change footing and visibility, so a familiar short loop may be more practical than a new trail. Clothing does not make unsuitable weather or a hazardous route appropriate.

Decide where the dog can take a break and how you will return home. Keep the phone and other essentials accessible without needing to remove or unfasten the walking equipment.

Fit the coat around the walking setup

Measure before buying, then check how the coat sits with the harness underneath. Confirm that the leash reaches the intended attachment point without dragging the shell out of place. A reflective strip is an additional detail, not a guarantee that others will see you.

Our raincoat buying guide explains coverage and harness access. If the coat’s numerical chart has not been confirmed, ask for fit help before ordering instead of guessing from S, M, or L.

Treat boot leggings as a separate fitting task

Connected boot leggings need more than a paw measurement. Check front and rear paw width while the dog bears weight, then obtain the leg and spacing measurements requested by the exact product. The connected straps do not remove the need for a correct fit.

Try unfamiliar coverings in short, calm sessions at home before relying on them outside. Check for slipping, rubbing, awkward movement, or reluctance to walk. Stop and reassess the fit if the dog appears uncomfortable.

Pack for the way home

A towel is easy to forget until everything is wet. Keep it with a washable mat or other appropriate place for drying, and separate damp gear from items that need to stay dry. Follow the product care instructions and let equipment dry before putting it away.

Bring your regular waste bags and clean drinking water. Rainy surroundings are not a replacement for a familiar drinking supply. The amount and carrying arrangement need to suit the outing rather than the size of a pocket.

What the Rainy Day Kit includes

The Rainy Day Kit contains the Reflective Dog Raincoat and Waterproof Dog Boot Leggings. It does not include a harness, leash, towel, or water bottle. Choose the coat and leggings sizes separately and confirm each product’s measurements before ordering.

The checklist is deliberately broader than the kit: it is a packing aid for the whole outing, not a claim that two products cover every need. Use your dog’s existing suitable gear where it already does the job.
